SEASON 2009:
Here we are once again at the start of a new football season.  I hope you and your family had an enjoyable Christmas and New Year break.

I would like to inform you that Gerard Harrington will be coaching the U/18’s this year, with former senior ruckman Robert Snowdon as his assistant. Graeme Johnson will continue in his invaluable role as trainer and Ray Digby will again lend his experience with clearances & registration. We are currently talking to more former senior players who have expressed an interest in assisting on match day & with training.

Gerard comes to us with a wealth of playing & coaching experience, including stints with Essendon, Sale, Maffra, Golden Point & taking South Melbourne Districts seniors to premierships in 2006 and 2007 in the VAFA. Recently at Essendon Keilor College as Sport’s Coordinator & Senior School football coach, Gerard was able to be involved in preparing over 10 young players to get drafted, and he will be looking to fulfil similar ambitions with his appointment to Grovedale Secondary College.

Gerard and Rob are both looking forward to working with the U/18 group to further develop their football and continue on the tradition of players graduating to the senior ranks. Depending on player numbers we are considering entering a second side again, so we would like your help to make this happen by inviting your friends down to training.

Starting date of training:              Tuesday February 3rd at 4.30pm at St. Mary’s Sporting Club, La Trobe Terrace, West Kardinia

Please bring your sandshoes, training will be on a Tuesday & Thursday from this date onwards, weather & ground condition dependent. If any players are unable to attend training could you please call: Gerard Harrington – 0425 825 999 or Rob (Snowy) Snowdon – 0419 364 373

After training at about 6pm, we will be having a “Meet the Coach Night” and we would encourage all players and parents to come along and meet the coaching staff, with a sausage sizzle and an outline of what is expected of the players, and the format of training and game days.
